Louth and Clare claim league titles- Allianz National Football Leagues Roundup

Both Clare and Louth produced fantastic performances today at Croke Park to claim the Division 3 and 4 titles respectively in nail biting circumstances.

Louth 3-12- Antrim 1-14

Louth won the NFL Division Four title thanks to a Conor Grimes goal in stoppage time, beating Antrim by 3-12 to 1-14 in a gripping finish to a thrilling decider.Derek Maguire fired in an early Louth goal, but five Tomas McCann points and a Matthew Fitzpatrick goal had the Ulster men ahead by 1-9 to 1-5 at the break.Jim McEneaney fired home a Louth goal, but Tomas McCann levelled the sides with his eighth score, and it was Grimes who bagged the winning goal in stoppage time. Antrim had been unbeaten in this years campaign until today. A memorable win for The Wee County.

Clare 2-17 Kildare 1-19

Clare scored a dramatic 2-17 to 1-19 over Kildare to clinch the NFL Division Three title.Neil Flynn hit the net as the Lilywhites went six points clear early on, but Clare dominated the second quarter, and David Tubridy’s 35th minute goal sent them in with a 1-10 to 1-9 lead.Kildare took the fight to the Munster men with Paul Cribbin scoring two wonderful long ranges scores for a three points lead late in the game. However there was late drama at Croke Park this evening with Gary Brennan rising high to catch the ball  on the edge of the square, before slipping the ball inside for centre back Dean Ryan to dive and punch to the net and level the game.Clare had substitute Graham Kelly sent off on a straight red card but late points from Enda Coughlan and Eoin Cleary say The Banner hold on to seal the title.

Croke Park plays host to the Division 1 and 2 finals tomorrow afternoon with Tyrone facing Cavan in the Division 2 decider at 1:30pm before old rivals Kerry and Dublin battle for the Division 1 title with throw-in at 3:30pm.
