Ferguson sees penalty saved as Ireland draw with Belgium

Evan Ferguson missed an early penalty for the Republic as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Belgium in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium. In John O’Shea’s first game as interim manager, Ferguson saw his tame spot-kick saved by Belgium goalkeeper Matz Sels. The Boys in Green more than impressed albeit against a much changed Belgian side that was without the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne.

Verstappen secures pole position for Australian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen fought off a challenge from Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz to take pole position for the Australian Grand Prix. Sainz was quickest in the first two parts of qualifying but the world champion bounced back in the top 10 shootout to take pole by 0.27 seconds. McLaren’s Lando Norris will start third ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc after a grid penalty for Red Bull’s Sergio Perez for impeding.

Albon to take Sargeant’s car as crash leaves Williams with one chassis

Logan Sargeant will miss the Australian Grand Prix after Williams gave his team-mate Alex Albon their sole remaining car for the rest of the weekend following the Thai driver’s crash in practice. Albon caused irreparable damage to his car in a huge shunt during first practice on Friday, after which it emerged that Williams do not have a spare chassis with them in Melbourne.

Premier League charge Leicester over spending breach

Leicester City have been charged by the Premier League with allegedly breaking spending rules during their last three seasons in the top flight. Leicester have been referred to an independent commission for breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) and failing to submit audited finances. If found guilty the Championship high-flyers could face a points deduction.

Tiger Woods named on entry list for The Masters

Tiger Woods has been included in an 85-man field for the Masters published on the tournament’s official website. Woods has not competed since withdrawing from February’s Genesis Invitational due to illness after six holes of his second round. It was the 48-year-old’s first PGA Tour event of the season and just his second tournament since undergoing ankle surgery in April last year after withdrawing from the Masters during the third round.
