Munster v Leinster match off due to Coronavirus issues

Munster’s Guinness Pro14 game with Leinster, due to be played on St Stephen’s Day, has been postponed.

“Leinster Rugby are currently investigating the outcomes of some of the results from their latest round of Covid-19 PRC testing,” Pro14 organisers said.

“Results of these investigations will not be returned in time to meet guidelines set by public health authorities in order for the game go ahead as planned.”

It is hoped that the Thomond Park game can be rescheduled for early 2021.

The likely weeks would seem to be the last weekend in January or a blank weekend during the Six Nations although the availability of the Ireland squad members would likely be impacted in either of those circumstances.

Yesterday, the Pro14 announced that the regular season would end in March before a new ‘Rainbow Cup’ involving four South African teams begins.
