How Rome reacted to the most unlikely of comebacks

The Eternal City became the sleepless city last night when AS Roma produced an incredible comeback to knock FC Barcelona out of the Champions League.

The celebrations both inside and outside the stadium were something else but first let’s have a look at how Italian commentator and Roma fan Carlo Zampa reacted to Kostas Manolas’ winning header:

The full time whistle saw the Stadio Olimpico erupt into the club’s unofficial anthem of Grazie Roma by Antonello Venditti. Spine-tingling to say the least:

Fans who couldn’t be in the stadium took to the roads of the Italian capital to celebrate the victory here’s a snapshot of what it was like at the Colosseum:

AS Roma President James Pallotta even got involved in the action joining fans at the famed fountain of the Piazza del Popolo where he dived into the water:

Roma fans even gathered at the club’s training ground which is located 33km from the Stadio Olimpico:

Needless to say last night will live long in the memory of Roma fans. Their club are now into their first Champions League semi-final since the 1983/84 season. They’ll also be hoping for more scenes like last night in the coming weeks.

Il calcio è fantastico.
