Paul Pogba joins AS Monaco on a free transfer

Paul Pogba has joined AS Monaco on a two-year contract.

The 32-year-old had been a free agent since leaving Juventus in November 2024 and has not made a senior appearance since September 2023, after failing an anti-doping test.

The World-Cup winning midfielder’s last competitive game came in September 2023 for Juventus. He was handed a four-year ban by an Italian anti-doping tribunal for testing positive for the elevated levels of Testosterone.

While the suspension was reduced to 18 months after a successful appeal, his contract at Juventus was mutually terminated in November 2024 and he has been without a club since.

Pogba, who began his youth career at Le Havre before joining United as a teenager, has never played professionally in French domestic football. He has made 91 appearances for France playing an integral role in 2018 World Cup triumph.

Pogba’s arrival comes with Ligue 1 side Monaco also set to sign Ansu Fati on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

Monaco recorded a third-place finish in France’s top flight last season, four points behind second-placed Marseille and 23 behind winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Pogba rejoined Juventus from United in summer 2022, but made just 12 first-team appearances.

The 32-year-old has previously been linked with moves in the MLS to DC United and the lucrative Saudi Pro League but the Paris native has opted to start afresh in the principality.
