America’s Joe Dombrowski won Stage 4 of the Giro d’Italia in the ski resort of Sestola as Italy’s Alessandro De Marchi settled for the pink jersey after a sodden day in the saddle. Colombia’s Egan Bernal led the charge from the race favourites as Remco Evenepoel, Simon Yates, Vincenzo Nibali and Joao Almeida all lost varying degrees of time.

Taco van der Hoorn holds off peloton to win stage 3- Giro d’Italia

Dutchman Taco van der Hoorn caused a huge upset in Stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia after holding off the rampaging pack to win from the breakaway in Canale. The 27-year-old from Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert was the last man standing from an eight-man move which defied the peloton by a whisker over a series of leg-sapping climbs in the Langhe hills of Piedmont.
