Geraint Thomas withdraws from Giro d’Italia with broken pelvis

Ineos Grenadiers rider Geraint Thomas has withdrawn from the Giro d’Italia after just three stages following a crash on Monday. Thomas was caught up in a crash during the neutral section after he cycled over a bidon. Scans have revealed he has suffered a pelvis fracture.

Filippo Ganna takes opening stage and Pink Jersey – Giro d’Italia

Italian time trial specialist Filippo Ganna won the opening stage of the Giro d’Italia, finishing by far the quickest over a 15km ITT course in Sicily. Ganna’s Ineos teammate Geraint Thomas also enjoyed a strong day, taking time out of all of his expected general classification rivals.

Egan Bernal withdraws from Tour de France

Ineos Grenadiers’ Egan Bernal has withdrawn from the Tour de France. The defending champion fell out of contention for the overall classification after being dropped by his rivals on the Grand Colombier on stage 15. He finished 10 minutes down on his rivals yesterday.
