Dimitri Payet committed to West Ham

French playmaker Dimitri Payet has insisted he is “100% staying at West Ham”. The 29-year-old had been linked with a move away from the London club after a number of impressive performances during his country’s run to the final of Euro 2016. But the former Marseille player, who helped the Hammers to a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League last season, has stressed his commitment to Slaven Bilic’s team.

“I’ve heard about all the interest and I’m flattered. But I love West Ham,” Payet told the Sun.”We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium. I’m 100% staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.”

Payet scored 9 times for the Hammers last season while also bagging 12 assists in 29 appearances. Today’s news is a huge boost for all West Ham fans heading into the new season.

Payet joined West Ham last summer from Marseille and his performances quickly established him as a fan favourite in the final season at Upton Park. His comments echo those of co-owner David Sullivan earlier this week – he said: “He’s under contract. There might be six weeks of silliness when he bangs the table. But if you believe what he says, he wants to stay.
