Filippo Ganna averaged a shade under 56kph to beat all comers in the Vuelta a España’s stage 10 time trial around Valladolid. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step), riding a new Specialized Shiv decked out in the rainbow bands, was second at 16sec, with Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) a further 19sec back. Neither managed to depose race leader Sepp Kuss, who hung on to his lead with 13th place.

Lennard Kamna breaks clear to win stage nine – Vuelta a Espana

Germany’s Lennard Kamna soloed to victory on stage nine of the Vuelta a Espana as American Sepp Kuss retained the leader’s red jersey. Italy’s Matteo Sobrero was second, with Australia’s Chris Hamilton third on the 184.5km stage from Cartagena to Collado de la Cruz de Caravaca.

Primoz Roglic overtook Remco Evenepoel and won a sprint for the line to claim victory on the eighth stage of the Vuelta a Espana. Roglic went past his rival at the final corner before winning the 165km stage from Denia to Xorret de Cati while American Sepp Kuss took the overall lead.

Geoffrey Soupe of TotalEnergies shocked the Vuelta a España field to win stage seven along the Mediterranean in Oliva. The Frenchman, who has been a professional since 2011 but has never before won a race in Europe, started his sprint 300m from the line and held on for victory despite a late charge from Venezuelan champion Orluis Aular of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA.

Groves too fast for Ganna in stage 5 sprint – Vuelta a Espana

Kaden Groves (Alpecin Deceuninck) took his second victory in as many days at the Vuelta a España, pipping Ineos Grenadiers powerhouse Filippo Ganna to the line on stage five. The Australian, who won Tuesday’s fourth stage, went on to triumph by half a wheel’s length in Burriana, beating a late charge from the World Hour Record holder with a well-executed bike throw.
