19 and out! Max Verstappen and Red Bull bring the curtain down on an all-conquering 2023 season as the Dutchman takes victory for the fourth year in a row in Abu Dhabi and a record 19th win of the season. The three time World Champion found himself under attack from the start as Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc enjoyed a strong start but he was unable to find a way through. Mercedes’ George Russell finished P3 that helps see the Silver Arrows narrowly take second place in the Constructors’ Championship ahead of Ferrari. Sergio Perez was P4 ahead of the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri who help the Woking team secure 4th in the championship ahead of Aston Martin. Yuki Tsunoda brought home points as the perfect farewell gift for AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost who leaves the sport after 17 years at the helm of the Faenza outfit. And so the racing is done and dusted for 2023 with Red Bull winning an incredible 21 of 22 races. The teams have the small matter of some testing in Abu Dhabi over the next few days before the winter break. Only 97 days till lights out in Bahrain for the 2024 season opener. Sin City delivers a deviously good race as Max Verstappen is made to work to pick up victory in the desert. The Red Bull man took first place at the start but was handed a 5 second penalty for his move on Ferrar's Charles Lecerc. Contact, safety cars and tyre strategies all made for an intriguing race as Leclerc dulled with the Red Bull duo for victory. Sergio Perez rose from P11 to lead the race at one point however the Mexican's car setup left him vulnerable with Leclerc nabbing second place on the last lap in a race to the chequered flag. The result sees Perez secure 2nd in the World Championship - the first time Red Bull have completed a 1-2 in the standings. Alpine's Esteban Ocon finished P4 ahead of the Aston Martin of Lance Stoll who started the race P19. A thrilling race that will help smooth over the teething problems experienced in the run up. The F1 circus heads straight to Abu Dhabi for the final race of the season next year as Red Bull go in search of a 21st win of the season. Max Verstappen picked up his 17th win of the season in Sao Paulo this evening after comfortably fending off the McLaren of Lando Norris. The race was red flagged after a dramatic collision on the opening lap that saw Williams' Alex Albon and the Haas of Kevin Magnussen come together. After the the restart Verstappen disappeared into the distance the real action then came in the battle for third place as Alonso tussled with the Red Bull of Sergio Perez. The Mexican looked to have clinched the final podium place on the penultimate lap but the wily fought back on the final lap to hold off Perez in a drag race to the line. After a gruelling triple header the teams enjoy a well earned week of rest before the all new Las Vegas GP in two weeks time. Max Verstappen wins the Mexico City Grand Prix! The Red Bull man eased into the lead from the start making the most of the infamous slipstream on the run down to turn 1. His teammate Sergio Perez meanwhile saw his home GP end in disaster at that same corner as he made contact with polesitter Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari could continue with front wing damage while the Mexican’s extensive sidepod damage forced him out. The complection of the race was blown wide open as Haas’ Kevin Magnussen suffered a dramatic rear suspension failure that saw him head into the barriers brining out a red flag. Ultimately Ferrai made a poor call on tyre strategy allowing Lews Hamilton to come home second ahead of Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Lando Norris had a storming drive climbing from P17 to P5 while Daniel Ricciardo was an impressive 7th for AlphaTauri. The action continues next weekend which sees the final sprint event of the year in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Max Verstappen charged from P6 to win the US Grand Prix while also managing a brake issue at the Circuit of the Americas. With limited practise running in a sprint weekend this race always had the potential to turn into a battle of the strategies and it was exactly that. Pole sitter Charles Leclerc lost the lead to McLaren's Lando Norris at the start and soon found himself behind the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. Undercuts and varying stint lengths on the mediums and hards played out with Verstappen taking the lead while Norris was unable to hold off Hamilton who opted for mediums for his second stint. The Mercedes man was hot on the heels of the Red Bull but just ran out of laps. A more stressful race than usual for Red Bull but ultimately Verstappen collects his 50th win in F1. Max Verstappen eases to victory in a physically gruelling Qatar Grand Prix ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The Mercedes pair of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton started P2 and P3 but made contact heading in to the first corner with Hamilton ruled out of the race. Russell recovered to finish P4 ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. The teams have a week off before heading across the Atlantic for the United States Grand Prix in Austin Texas. THREE TIME WORLD CHAMPION! It was only a matter of time but Max Verstappen has now clinched his third Drivers’ World Championship title with a second place finish in the Qatar Sprint. McLaren rookie Oscar Piastri produced a superb drive to finish first while his teammate Lando Norris recovered from a poor start to take third ahead of the Mercedes’ duo of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton who led home Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. With the title in the bag Verstappen will now turn his attention to tomorrow evening’s grand prix set to start at 20:00 local time. Red Bull complete a record breaking streak of 12 race wins in a row as Max Verstappen wins the Hungarian Grand Prix. Polesitter Lewis Hamilton had a poor start in his Mercedes as Verstappen passed him into turn one while the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris also capitalised to get ahead on the opening lap. Sergio Perez was rewarded for his patience as he arrested his slump in form to charge forward to pass Piastri and Hamilton to claim third. The Mexican set his sights on Norris but was unable to catch the Englishman who hung on to claim back to back second placed finishes. Charles Leclerc finished P6 but incurred a 5 second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane which promoted George Russell who had risen from P18 to finish seventh on the road ahead of Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz. The Aston Martin pair of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll rounded out the top 10. The teams and drivers head straight to the Ardennes forest for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa next weekend. Max Verstappen makes it six wins in a row recovering from a poor start to come out on top at the British Grand Prix. McLaren's Lando Norris took an early lead after a superb start with his teammate Oscar Piastri also causing problems for Verstappen. However the dominant Red Bull didn't have to wait long to regain the lead and after that it never really looked to be in doubt. A safety car proved crucial for Lewis Hamilton who leapfrogged Piastri to finish third. George Russell came home fifth ahead of Sergio Perez who rose from P15 while Fernando Alonso held off the rapid Williams of Alex Albon for seventh. Once again poor strategy calls from Ferrari proved disastrous as Leclerc and Sainz came home P9 and P10 respectively. The teams and drivers now have a week off before heading to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix from July 21-23rd.
