Philipsen wins chaotic finale to stage 5 – Vuelta a España

Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen roared back into the green jersey with his second win of the race after beating Fabio Jakobsen in a chaotic bunch sprint finale to Stage 5 of La Vuelta. Frenchman Kenny Elissonde is the new race leader after Estonia’s Rein Taaramae was involved in a pile-up inside the final 12km of an otherwise uneventful day.

Fabio Jakobsen wins sprint finish on stage 4 – Vuelta a España

Dutchman Fabio Jakobsen won Stage 4 of La Vuelta – and the green jersey – after a thrilling tussle with Frenchman Arnaud Demare on the uphill rise to the finish at Molina de Aragon. An emotional third career win on the Vuelta came just over a year following Jakobsen’s life-threatening crash on the Tour de Pologne. Estonia’s Rein Taaramae retained the red jersey despite a crash near the finish.

Rein Taaramäe takes Red Jersey with stage 3 win – Vuelta a España

Rein Taaramae rode clear of an eight-man move to win Stage 3 of La Vuelta atop the Picon Blanco to become the first Estonian in history to secure the red jersey. A decade after his first and last stage win on the Vuelta, the 34-year-old got the better of American Joe Dombrowski and France’s Kenny Elissonde, who he now leads by 25 seconds on GC. Overnight leader Primoz Roglic dropped to third.
