Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen denied Britain’s Mark Cavendish a fairytale win in Bordeaux by powering to his third victory in Stage 7. Jai Hindley soloed to Stage 5 glory and the yellow jersey in Laruns as a pulsating day in the Pyrenees saw defending champion Jonas Vingegaard break his big rival Tadej Pogacar on the Col du Marie Blanque. Australian debutant Hindley now leads Vingegaard by 47 seconds in the new-look general classification, with Pogacar down to sixth after losing over a minute.

Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen doubled up in Stage 4 on the Nogaro motor racing circuit to edge out Australia’s Caleb Ewan and soar into the green jersey. Philipsen proved the strongest once again in a hectic finish that saw multiple riders hit the deck, including Fabio Jakobsen.
