Tadej Pogacar continued chipping away at Jonas Vingegaard’s lead but the Dane rallied to retain the yellow jersey after his rival’s late, late show on the Grand Colombier. Vingegaard leads the GC by nine seconds ahead of two more big days in the Alps. It was a redemptive day for Ineos Grenadiers as Michal Kwiatkowski won Stage 13 from the break and Tom Pidcock impressed to finish fifth.

Cofidis had waited 15 long years for a win at the Tour de France until Victor Lafay landed a surprise win in the Basque Country – now, a little over a week later, they are celebrating a second. Ion Izagirre got in the breakaway and timed his move to perfection to solo clear to his second win at the Tour, seven years after his first.
