Evenepoel narrowly wins stage 9 time trial to regain Pink Jersey – Giro d’Italia

Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) looked like he was heading for victory on Stage 9 of the Giro d’Italia, only for Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) to take the honours by one second. Thomas took second place on the podium with Ineos team-mate Tao Geoghegan Hart coming in third. Evenepoel has a 45-second lead over Thomas in the general classification.

Ben Healy launches solo attack to win stage 8 – Giro d’Italia

Primoz Roglic took the fight to Remco Evenepoel on Stage 8 at the Giro d’Italia as Ben Healy became Ireland’s second youngest winner at a Grand Tour. The Slovenian attacked on the final climb as Evenepoel, perhaps feeling the effects of his double crash on Stage 5, showed some weakness, with Ineos duo Geraint Thomas and Tao Geoghegan Hart also putting time into the Belgian favourite.

Davide Bais wins stage 7 from the break – Giro d’Italia

Italy’s Davide Bais took a first pro win as the breakaway went the distance in what proved to be a damp squib of a first summit showdown on the Gran Sasso d’Italia. Bais outfoxed fellow escapees Karel Vacek and Simone Petilli on his way to securing the blue jersey. Remco Evenepoel led home the main field three minutes later as Andreas Leknessund survived another day in pink.
