The German side hit the woodwork and spurned several chances to take the lead in the first half but a Dani Carvajal header 16 minutes from time turned the tide with Vinicius Jr adding a late second to secures a record extending 15th Champions League crown for Los Blancos.

Thibaut Courtois to start for Real Madrid in Champions League Final

Thibaut Courtois will start in goal for Real Madrid in tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League Final against Borussia Dortmund. The 32 year old Belgian has missed much of the the current season after suffering an ACL injury but returned to fitness earlier this month. Andriy Lunin who has played in every Champions League game so far this term will be on the bench as he battles flu like symptoms and has been isolated from the rest of the squad.

FC Barcelona appoint Hansi Flick as new manager

Hansi Flick has been confirmed as the new coach of Barcelona, after the sacking of Xavi Hernández. The former Bayern Munich manager joins on a two-year deal, worth about €3.5m a year plus incentives. The 59-year-old had been out of work since his sacking as Germany’s coach in September last year. Barcelona described Flick as a manager “known for his intense, ambitious high press” and cited a “wide experience at club and international level, in which he has won practically every title that can be won in world football”.

Carlo Ancelotti signs new contract at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has signed a new deal with the club which will run until June 2026. The Italian, 64, was appointed at the Bernabeu for a second time in 2021 on an initial three-year deal. His future appeared uncertain with the Brazilian FA publicly courting him for the national team job however his future now lies in the Spanish capital.

Barcelona star Gavi suffers torn ACL while playing for Spain

FC Barcelona midfielder Gavi tore his anterior cruciate ligament on international duty with Spain and needs surgery, his club has confirmed. Gavi, 19, left the pitch in tears on Sunday after landing awkwardly when jumping to control the ball. Barca said he would have surgery on his right ACL, with a further update on the injury due in “the coming days”.
