EURO 2016 Day 5 Preview
The final group of EURO 2016 will begin today as the four teams competing in Group F kickoff. Here’s your preview of today’s fixtures.
A youthful Austrian squad begins its campaign this evening as they take on a tough Hungarian side. Today’s game will be the sides 138th meeting with Hungary surprisingly holding the advantage winning 66 times drawing 31 times and losing on 40 occasions. Austria were undefeated in qualifying winning 9 drawing one thanks to standout performances from David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic. Hungary will look towards Zoltan Gera and Balasz Dzsudzsak for inspiration today in a difficult game. History might be on Hungary’s side but Austria on paper should win this one.
Iceland begin their European adventure today as they take on giants Portugal in Saint-Etienne. The sides have faced each other three times in the past with the Portuguese coming out on top in each occasion. Cristiano Ronaldo is the start name in an exciting Portugal side that boasts players such as Joao Moutinho, Pepe and Ricardo Quaresma. Iceland were a surprise package in qualifying and Swansea play maker Gylfi Sigurdsson will be crucial going forward. It will be a memorable occasion for Icelandic fans no matter what the result. Portugal wont have it all their own way but should prevail.
