EURO 2016 Day 7 Preview
Yesterday produced some surprising results and today too could throw up some shocks. Here’s your preview of today’s fixtures.
Neighbours England and Wales face off in what should be a tight encounter in Lens today. England dominated Russia in their opening game but were held by a late Russian equaliser. Wales on the other hand were victorious in their opening fixture against Slovakia. Gareth Bale gave them a first half led but a second half resurgence saw Slovakia level the game. Substitute Hal Robson-Kanu came off the bench to save the day of Wales giving them all three points. Today’s game has huge significance on how each side will finish in the table and should be a great watch!
Both Ukraine and Northern Ireland lost their opening games but they also showed signs of life. Ukraine pushed Germany all the way conceding a late second goal that flattered the German performance. Northern Ireland were set up in a defensive manner against Poland but after they conceded they began to look more menacing going forward. Both sides have it all to play for today and it will certainly be a feisty encounter this evening.
Germany and Poland were in the same qualifying group for EURO 2016 so both sets of players know each other very well by now. Poland edged the first meeting 2-0 but the Germans dispatched them 3-1 in the next meeting. Germany were worked hard by Ukraine and looked slightly shaky at the back. Poland were forced to be patient against Northern Ireland and settled for a 1-0 win. The Pols could easily have scored 2 or 3 had it not been for their poor finishing. This game will more than likely decide who will top the group and will see both sides pushing each other to the limit for the full 90 minutes.
