FC Barcelona have announced their first signing of the summer. Barcelona have decided to exercise the buy back clause for Denis Suárez, currently at Villarreal CF, which will see the player join the Club for the next four seasons with an option for a fifth depending on the number of appearances in the fourth season.
The fee for the 22-year-old is €3,250,000 and his buyout clause has been set at €50 million. Suárez will undergo a medical tomorrow and will official be presented as a Barcelona player on Wednesday.
Suarez joined Barcelona in 2013 from Manchester City and spent the 2013/14 campaign in the Barça B side. He then spent a season on loan at Sevilla, before being sold to Villarreal last summer with a buy-back option included. Following an impressive season at El Madrigal – playing 48 games, scoring five goals and creating 11 more – Barça have decided to exercise their option to re-sign the 22-year-old. A talented midfielder, Suarez can also play wide in a front three and will provide cover for Luis Enrique in a number of positions. He recorded the most assist in the Europa League last season with Villarreal creating seven goals for his teammates.
