Jesús Herrada sprinted to victory from a giant breakaway of 26 on stage 11 of the Vuelta a España, attacking in the final 300m to glory on Wednesday. The Spanish Cofidis rider took his third stage win at his home Grand Tour with the win atop the La Laguna Negra summit, with his sprint on the punchy finish netting him first ahead of Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ) and Andreas Kron (Lotto Dstny)

Filippo Ganna averaged a shade under 56kph to beat all comers in the Vuelta a España’s stage 10 time trial around Valladolid. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step), riding a new Specialized Shiv decked out in the rainbow bands, was second at 16sec, with Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) a further 19sec back. Neither managed to depose race leader Sepp Kuss, who hung on to his lead with 13th place.

Germany’s Lennard Kamna soloed to victory on stage nine of the Vuelta a Espana as American Sepp Kuss retained the leader’s red jersey. Italy’s Matteo Sobrero was second, with Australia’s Chris Hamilton third on the 184.5km stage from Cartagena to Collado de la Cruz de Caravaca.

Jordi Meeus caused a monumental upset on Stage 21 of the Tour de France as he outsprinted Jasper Philipsen, Dylan Groenewegen and Mads Pedersen to win on the Champs-Elysees. The Belgian had not finished higher than sixth in the opening 20 stages, making Bora’s decision to pick him over Sam Bennett look questionable, but he came good at the last with a stunning sprint.
