Novak Djokovic has revealed that he has split from coach Goran Ivanisevic. The partnership was hugely successful, with Djokovic enjoying the most dominant period of his career through his early and mid-30s. Ivanisevic became the Serbian’s main coach in March 2022, having previously worked alongside Djokovic’s long-time mentor Marian Vajda for several years.

Djokovic, 36, was far from his best in the initial stages but his quality in a first-set tie-break laid the platform for a 7-6 (7-1) 6-3 7-5 victory.

Novak Djokovic will be allowed to play at the US Open this year, after the Senate voted to end Covid-19 measures. The former world No 1 has not played tennis in the United States since losing the 2021 US Open final because of Covid measures introduced by the government during the height of the pandemic.
