Harry Arter to miss Republic of Ireland friendlies
Republic of Ireland midfielder Harry Ater has been ruled out of the Republic Of Ireland’s upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia due to an achilles injury. As a result of this injury Arter has left the squad and has returned to his club Bournemouth for treatment on his damaged achilles. This will surely be a blow to the 26 year old who has only made one appearance for the national team – a friendly debut against England last summer.
Arter isn’t the only player in doubt for the upcoming games. Midfielder Jeff Hendrick is struggling with a shoulder injury and assistant coach Roy Keane stated “If there’s any doubt, they obviously don’t play.” “I think Jeff might be heading back in a day or two.” Keane added that Arter may well be involved in May’s friendly against the Netherlands and his injury might be down to the regular first team minutes Arter is enjoying with Bournemouth this season.
Robbie Keane didn’t train today as he awaits a scan on an injury while FAI player of the year Jonathan Walters and young player of the year Robbie Brady also sat out training.
