Ireland to start 2024 Six Nations with trip to France

Ireland will open the 2024 Guinness Six Nations campaign with a blockbuster Friday-night fixture in France on 2 February.

The location for Les Bleus’ home games has yet to be decided but will not be at Paris’ Stade de France because of the venue’s use in the Olympic Games, which are taking place just a few months later.

For 2022 and 2023, the fixture has been the showpiece of the tournament with Ireland sitting atop the global rankings and France – the current champions – close behind Andy Farrell’s side in second.

Ireland won this year’s fixture 32-19 at the Aviva Stadium earlier this month to keep Grand Slam hopes alive, further bolstered by the weekend win over Italy in Rome.

Next February’s visit to France will be Ireland’s first Friday-night game since the 2017 defeat to Wales.

After that, the Irish side will continue the 2024 campaign by welcoming Italy to the Aviva Stadium on 11 February.

A clash against England at Twickenham on 9 March will be sandwiched between home games against Wales (24 February) and Scotland (16 March).
