It was a day to remember for Georg Steinhauser as he claimed his first professional win on the five-star mountain stage to Passo del Brocon. The 22-year-old, who caught the eye of race leader Tadej Pogacar last week with third place on the queen stage, rode solo for 34 kilometres to take an impressive victory. Italy’s Filippo Ganna claimed his first Giro d’Italia victory since 2021 in the individual time trial on stage 14, as Slovenian Tadej Pogacar extended his overall lead by 61 seconds. Ineos Grenadiers rider Ganna had to wait more than two hours to celebrate victory after coming out early to set the benchmark with an impressive time of 35 minutes two seconds.
