Egan Bernal dominates gruelling stage 16 – Giro d’Italia

Egan Bernal cemented his status as pink jersey elect with a splendid solo victory in Cortina d’Ampezzo after a huge attack on the Passo Giau – not that fans were able to see it. Owing to the bad weather much of today’s shortened stage in the Dolomites played out mysteriously behind closed doors on a day to forget for Simon Yates and Remco Evenepoel.

Victor Campenaerts wins stage 15 from the breakaway – Giro d’Italia

Victor Campenaerts was instrumental in forming the day’s break, and then again as it was ripped apart in the final 25 kilometres. It is the Belgian’s first stage win at a Grand Tour as the breakaway won for the eighth time at this year’s Giro. Egan Bernal holds a 1:33 advantage over Simon Yates heading into Monday’s daunting trip to the Dolomites.

Lorenzo Fortunato wins atop Monte Zoncolan – Giro d’Italia

Italy’s Lorenzo Fortunato made a name for himself with a maiden pro win on the fearsome Monte Zoncolan as Colombia’s Egan Bernal strengthened his grip on the pink jersey by riding clear of Simon Yates and his GC rivals on the steepest segment of the legendary climb.
