‘Breakaway or sprint?’ was the question on everyone’s lips prior to Stage 9 at the Giro d’Italia. It turned out to be both. Olav Kooij appeared out of nowhere to win the bunch sprint after a thrilling finish saw escapee Jhonatan Narvaez caught just metres from the line. The peloton will enjoy their first rest day on Monday ahead of the action resuming in Pompei on Tuesday.
