Francesco Farioli leaves Ajax following title race implosion

Francesco Farioli has stepped down as Ajax head coach after only a year in charge of the Amsterdam club. Farioli was visibly emotional following his sides 2-0 win over Twente on Sunday which was not enough to win clinch Eredivisie title for the Amsterdam side. Ajax had a nine point lead at one point but their form in April and May saw the title slip from their hands. The 36 year old Italian had signed a three year deal last summer but has cited differences with the club as the reason for this premature departure.

Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms Liverpool departure

England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will leave Premier League champions Liverpool at the end of the season. The 26-year-old, who has been at the club since he was six, is out of contract on 30 June and is expected to join Real Madrid. The Liverpool-born defender has made 352 appearances, scored 23 goals and provided 86 assists for the club since making his debut in 2016.

Real Madrid are in advanced talks to complete the signing of Liverpool full back Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer. The 26 year old is in the last three months of his contract and is free to discuss his future with other clubs. The Spanish giants have long been admirers of the Merseysider and have developed a strategy of signing players on free transfer in recent years including Kylian Mbappe last summer.

Juventus sack manager Thiago Motta and appoint Igor Tudor

Juventus have sacked manager Thiago Motta after just nine months in charge and replaced him Croatian Igor Tudor. Former Italy international Motta, 42, departs with the 36-time Serie A champions one point outside the Champions League qualification places in fifth. His final match in charge was a 3-0 defeat at Fiorentina last weekend, having been thrashed 4-0 at home by Atalanta the previous week.

Man United to face Real Sociedad in Europa League Last 16

Manchester United will face Spanish side Real Sociedad in the last 16 of the Europa League, while Tottenham will play AZ Alkmaar and Rangers meet Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
