Sergio Perez joins Red Bull replacing Alex Albon

Sergio Perez will partner Max Verstappen at Red Bull for the 2021 Formula 1 season. The Mexican replaces Alexander Albon who will remain at the team as a reserve driver. 30 year old Perez was set to leave the sport after Racing Point signed Sebastian Vettel however Albon’s disappointing season opened the door for him to remain in the sport.

AlphaTauri have today announced Yuki Tsunoda will replace Daniil Kvyat at the team for the 2021 Formula 1 season. The 20 year old Japanese driver will compete alongside Pierre Gasly while Kvyat leaves the sport with two podium finishes in 110 starts.

Russian Formula 2 driver Nikita Mazepin will make the step up to Formula 1 next season after Haas announced his signing on a multi-year deal this morning. Mazepin currently sits third overall in the F2 championship with one round to go. His partner at Haas is as yet unknown.

Formula 1 releases 23 race calendar for 2021

Formula 1 has announced a record 23 race calendar for the 2021 season with the Vietnam Grand Prix notably not included. F1 has never previously staged more than 21 races in a single season and 2021 sees a return of the Dutch Grand Prix and introduction of a race in Saudi Arabia.
