Williams name James Vowles as new team principal

Williams has appointed Mercedes’ Formula 1 strategy director James Vowles as its new team principal ahead of the 2023 season. Vowles, who has served as the motorsport strategy director for Mercedes for the past four years, takes over from Jost Capito at the Woking outfit who finished bottom of the Constructors’ standings last year.

Andreas Seidl leaves McLaren to take charge at Alfa Romeo

Andreas Seidl is set to oversee Audi’s entry to Formula 1 in 2026 after leaving his role as McLaren team principal to become chief executive of Sauber. Seidl, who will start work at Sauber in January, will be replaced in his role at McLaren by Andrea Stella, who has stepped up with immediate effect from his previous position as executive director.

Fred Vasseur leaves Alfa Romeo to become new Ferrari Team Principal

Frederic Vasseur will become the team principal of Ferrari at the start of 2023. The 54-year-old Frenchman, who has been managing director of Alfa Romeo/Sauber since 2017, replaces Mattia Binotto, who Ferrari said resigned last month. Vasseur will be charged with turning the Italian team into one capable of winning the world championship.

Verstappen wins season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed his 15th and final victory of the season as the Formula 1 season came to a close in Abu Dhabi. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished second ahead of Sergio Perez to deny the Red Bull driver second place in the World Championship by three points.
