A day for the ages at the 2023 Tour de France concluded with Pello Bilbao taking a memorable win from the breakaway. The Spaniard consistently found the right wheels as he made it into a six-strong group in the final 3km and he had the strongest kick to wrap up victory. Jai Hindley became the first Australian to win the Giro d’Italia – proving his near-miss against 2020’s depleted field was no fluke. Bora-Hansgrohe carved apart the GC battle on the penultimate stage on Saturday, cracking pre-race favourite Richard Carapaz in the Dolomites as Hindley opened up a 1’25” lead heading into Sunday.
