Portugal survive major scare to see off Slovenia on penalties

Cristiano Ronaldo was left in tears after his penalty was saved in extra time but Portugal still progressed to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 following a dramatic shootout victory over Slovenia. Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa was the hero of the night as he made a crucial save in the final moments of extra-time to deny Benjamin Sesko before saving three Slovenian penalties in a row enabling Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva to send the 2016 Champions into the last eight.

England top Group C despite drab stalemate with Slovenia

Jović grabs late leveller for Serbia against Slovenia

Serbia substitute Luka Jovic headed a last-gasp equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw with Slovenia in an entertaining Group C clash at Euro 2024. A brilliantly worked goal from right-back Zan Karnicnik had given Slovenia the lead and put them on the brink of their first ever Euros win before Jovic nodded home a corner five minutes into added time to leave their opponents distraught.

Slovenia fightback to earn draw with Denmark

Christian Eriksen marked his return to the European Championship with a special goal – but Slovenia responded to draw with Denmark in Stuttgart. Slovenia, who also faced Denmark in qualifying, were backed by vociferous fans in Stuttgart and levelled when Erik Janza’s powerful effort flew past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel with 13 minutes left.
