Spain survive scare to see off Switzerland on penalties

Spain survived a real scare seeing off Switzerland 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw to reach the semi-finals of EURO 2020. A Denis Zakaria own goal gave Spain an early lead but the Swiss persevered and drew level through Xherdan Shaqiri. Their task was made more difficult following the dismissal of Remo Freuler and ultimately Spain held their nerve from the spot.

Spain survive extra-time and Croatian comeback to reach quarter-finals

Spain saw a two goal lead evaporate before mounting a comeback of their own to defeat Croatia 3-5 after extra-time. Spain fell behind through a bizarre own goal but recovered and seemed to have put the game to bed before Croatia rallied to force extra time.
