Atletico Madrid took a firm grip on their Champions League quarter-final as goals from Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth earned a 2-0 first-leg victory over 10-man Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Barcelona dominated proceedings, but Atletico’s rock-solid defence combined with swift counter-attacks paid off after Pau Cubarsi was sent off for hauling down Giuliano Simeone in the 42nd minute as the last man.

FC Barcelona have announced their official return to the Spotify Camp Nou stadium. The Catalan giants will play in their home stadium once again on August 10, 2025, a date which the club says will be “a milestone that will mark the partial reopening of the Club’s new home as part of the wider Espai Barça transformation project.”

Barcelona have struck a major sponsorship deal with Spotify – which includes naming rights to the club’s Camp Nou stadium. Spotify will appear on the club’s shirts and training kit from the start of next season – and significantly Barca’s home ground will be called Spotify Camp Nou.
