Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc held his nerve to convert pole position at his home Monaco Grand Prix into a controlled victory after a huge first-lap pile-up. A collision between the two Haas cars and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez caused a red flag and led to a race of extreme tyre management by the leaders. Leclerc controlled McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, team-mate Carlos Sainz and McLaren’s Lando Norris all race to take Ferrari’s second win of 2024.

Both Haas drivers have been disqualified from today’s Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session after their cars failed a legality check. The FIA’s Formula 1 technical delegate Jo Bauer informed the stewards both drivers’ VF-24s did not pass an inspection of the DRS opening. Nico Hulkenberg had qualified P12 ahead of teammate Kevin Magnussen who was due to lineup p15.

Barring incident or accident, Tadej Pogacar will win the Giro d’Italia on Sunday. The Slovenian dominated in the mountains again to decimate his rivals, overhauling lone leader Giulio Pellizzari on the second of two ascents of Monte Grappa before charging away to the finish in Bassano del Grappa. Leinster were unable to shed their losing habit in Investec Champions Cup finals after they were edged 31-22 by Toulouse with only extra time separating the rivals at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
