Verstappen clinches World Championship with victory in Japan

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won a rain delayed and shortened Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka clinching his second World Championship title in the process. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc crossed the line second but a penalty saw him demoted to third with Sergio Perez second that switch swung the points in the 25 year olds’ favour to end the title fight.

Verstappen narrowly pips Leclerc to pole ahead of Japanese Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed pole position by just 0.010s from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc at Suzuka ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. The Dutchman received a reprimand from the stewards after a close call with McLaren’s Lando Norris on their out-laps in Q3. Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez start from the second row of the grid.

Nyck de Vries to drive for AlphaTauri in 2023

Nyck de Vries, who impressed many in the Formula 1 paddock with his points-scoring one-off performance for Williams in the Italian Grand Prix, has been handed a full-time drive for next season. The 27-year-old, who has previously been backed by McLaren and Mercedes, will drive for Red Bull’s junior team AlphaTauri.
