Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late brace to break Irish hearts as Portugal snatched a 2-1 win from the jaws of defeat. Stephen Kenny’s men put in a heroic performance taking a first half lead through a John Egan header. Brave defending had them on the brink of a famous result but Ronaldo had other plans.

Roglič regains red jersey with stage 17 triumph – Vuelta a España 

Primoz Roglic’s third win of La Vuelta saw the defending champion take back the red jersey for a third time after a commanding Stage 17 win at Lagos de Covadonga. After Roglic followed Egan Bernal’s attack with 60km remaining, the Slovenian dropped the Colombian on the final climb. Sepp Kuss completed a Jumbo-Visma one-two as Odd Christian Eiking crashed out of red.

Antoine Griezmann returns to Atletico Madrid on loan from Barcelona

Atletico Madrid sensationally announced they had re-signed France forward Antoine Griezmann on a season-long loan from Barcelona in the early hours of this morning. The deal will see the Madrid club pay €10m for the first season with a €40m obligation to buy at the end of that loan.
