France scored 11 tries to thrash Italy in a high-scoring contest to set up a potential Six Nations decider with Grand Slam-chasing Ireland. The game, with 14 tries, broke the previous championship record of 12 tries in a match, and it was also France’s highest score in the Six Nations. Italy beat Wales in Cardiff to achieve their most successful Six Nations campaign and consign their hosts to a first Wooden Spoon in 21 years. A try from wing Monty Ioane and two Paulo Garbisi penalties gave Italy an 11-0 half-time lead. Lorenzo Pani added a brilliant score with Garbisi and Martin Page-Relo kicking penalties. Wales responded with tries from Elliot Dee, Will Rowlands and Mason Grady to give the score some respectability.

Italy hold off Scotland to record first home win in 11 years

Italy held on despite intense late pressure to secure their first Six Nations home win since 2013 as Scotland’s title hopes were all but ended by an abject second-half collapse in Rome. The Azzurri had lost 26 home games in the Six Nations since that last win over Ireland – and had lost 13 in a row overall against the Scots.
