Jai Hindley soloed to Stage 5 glory and the yellow jersey in Laruns as a pulsating day in the Pyrenees saw defending champion Jonas Vingegaard break his big rival Tadej Pogacar on the Col du Marie Blanque. Australian debutant Hindley now leads Vingegaard by 47 seconds in the new-look general classification, with Pogacar down to sixth after losing over a minute.

Victor Lafay shocks Wout van Aert to win stage 2 – Tour de France

Cofidis ended their 15-year drought at the Tour de France as Victor Lafay lit up the final kilometre to win Stage 2 in San Sebastian. The Frenchman somehow held off a large chase group containing Wout van Aert, who gesticulated in frustration after taking second place ahead of Tadej Pogacar. Adam Yates retained the yellow jersey, with team-mate Tadej Pogacar closing after taking 12 bonus seconds.
