Jai Hindley soloed to Stage 5 glory and the yellow jersey in Laruns as a pulsating day in the Pyrenees saw defending champion Jonas Vingegaard break his big rival Tadej Pogacar on the Col du Marie Blanque. Australian debutant Hindley now leads Vingegaard by 47 seconds in the new-look general classification, with Pogacar down to sixth after losing over a minute.

Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen doubled up in Stage 4 on the Nogaro motor racing circuit to edge out Australia’s Caleb Ewan and soar into the green jersey. Philipsen proved the strongest once again in a hectic finish that saw multiple riders hit the deck, including Fabio Jakobsen.

Belgium’s Jasper Philipsen benefitted from a flawless leadout from his Alpecin-Deceuninck team-mate Mathieu van der Poel to win Stage 3 of the Tour de France in Bayonne. Philipsen slightly closed the door on compatriot Wout van Aert before holding off Phil Bauhaus and Caleb Ewan.

Cofidis ended their 15-year drought at the Tour de France as Victor Lafay lit up the final kilometre to win Stage 2 in San Sebastian. The Frenchman somehow held off a large chase group containing Wout van Aert, who gesticulated in frustration after taking second place ahead of Tadej Pogacar. Adam Yates retained the yellow jersey, with team-mate Tadej Pogacar closing after taking 12 bonus seconds.
