Aston Martin have confirmed Lance Stroll will race for the team next year “and beyond” ending any slim chances the Canadian would depart the team owned by his father Lawrence. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen prevailed in a tense, strategic battle with McLaren’s Lando Norris to win the Spanish Grand Prix. Pole sitter Norris lost the lead heading into turn one and was then held up in traffic. Lewis Hamilton took his first podium finish of the year for Mercedes in third, ahead of teammate George Russell. Charles Leclerc was fifth, leading home Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz.

Sensational Norris pips Verstappen to pole for Spanish GP

McLaren’s Lando Norris pipped Max Verstappen’s Red Bull to pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix in a gripping qualifying session. Verstappen had appeared out of reach when he improved his own time, which was already fastest, by more than 0.2 seconds on his final run. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won a gripping wet-dry Canadian Grand Prix that developed into a five-car battle for the lead over the final 10 laps. Verstappen expertly managed a restart after a safety-car period with 11 laps to go to bolt into a decisive lead while McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri fought with the Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton behind him. Verstappen pulled out nearly two seconds in one lap and controlled the race to the end from there.
