Lando Norris bounces back with victory in Austria

Lando Norris fought off a race-long challenge from McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri to win the Austrian Grand Prix. Norris’ third victory of the year, leading home a McLaren one-two, reduced his deficit in the championship to the Australian to 15 points. Ferrari’s Charles Lecerc completed the podium while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen saw his race ended by turn 3 after he was spun by Kimi Antonelli.

Norris storms to pole ahead of Austrian GP

Lando Norris took a dominant pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix as late yellow flag drama left championship leader Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen frustrated. Norris has topped every session since second practice and continued his superb form into qualifying, beating Charles Leclerc to pole by over half a second – the biggest pole margin of the 2025 F1 season so far. Oscar Piastri will start from P3 alongside Lewis Hamilton on the second row.

Russell wins in Austria as Verstappen and Norris collide

Mercedes’ George Russell won the Austrian Grand Prix after a collision between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris while they were fighting for the lead. Red Bull’s Verstappen was given a 10-second penalty for causing a collision with Norris after he moved over on the McLaren driver while Norris was trying to pass. The Briton was forced into retirement. Oscar Piastri finished second ahead of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz.

Verstappen on pole ahead of Austrian Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen put in an imperious performance to take pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix from McLaren’s Lando Norris. Fresh from winning a fight with Norris and McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in the sprint race earlier on Saturday, Verstappen beat the Briton by 0.404 seconds. Mercedes’ George Russell qualified third, 0.526secs behind Verstappen, after Piastri had a time that had put him third deleted for exceeding track limits at Turn Six.

Verstappen beats McLaren duo in Austrian Sprint

Max Verstappen fought off an early onslaught from the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to win the sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix. Norris challenged Verstappen hard in the early laps before losing second place to Piastri as the Briton challenged the Red Bull for the lead on lap five. Norris came back at Piastri in the second part of the race but could not get close enough to mount an attack.
