F1 announces record 24-race calendar for 2023

Formula 1 has revealed a record race calendar for 2023, with the sport set to hold 24 races in a season for the very first time. Overhauling its largest-ever calendar by two races, the schedule for next season includes the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is on a Saturday night, and sees the return of the Chinese GP after a three-year absence.

Alex Albon set to leave hospital after suffering anaesthetic complications

Williams driver Alex Albon suffered respiratory failure and was treated in intensive care following appendix surgery at the weekend. The 26-year-old had an operation on Saturday but suffered “post-operative anaesthetic complications” and was put on a ventilator.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen spoiled the anniversary party at Monza as he saw off Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to win the Italian Grand Prix. Pole sitter Leclerc was hoping to mark Ferrari’s 75th anniversary with victory on home soil but had to settle for second ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell.
