Alpine have announced that they will part ways with Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer by mutual agreement following the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix. Szafnauer will continue his duties as normal for this weekend’s race at Spa-Francorchamps, before leaving the team ahead of the August summer break.

Lewis Hamilton claimed his first pole position in 595 days with a fine qualifying lap for Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton crossed the line at the Hungaroring just 0.003 seconds ahead of Red Bull rival Max Verstappen to take his first pole since the penultimate round of the 2021 season in Saudi Arabia. McLaren’s Lando Norris will start from third.

Daniel Ricciardo will return to the Formula 1 grid with AlphaTauri after replacing Nyck de Vries with immediate effect. The 34-year-old Australian has been loaned out by Red Bull – for whom he was serving as third driver – to their junior team for the remainder of his one-year contract.

Max Verstappen cruised to victory in the British Grand Prix for his sixth win in a row and a record-equalling 11th consecutive triumph for Red Bull. McLaren’s Lando Norris fought off an attack from Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes after a late safety car to finish second to give the 160,000 fans a double home podium to cheer.
