Tiger Woods arrested and charged following crash in Florida

Golfer Tiger Woods has been charged with driving under the influence after a car crash in Florida, police say. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the 15-time major champion had also been charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Woods, 50, passed a breathalyser test after the crash on Jupiter Island on Friday, but refused a urine test having had to crawl out of the passenger side of his vehicle after colliding with a pressure cleaner truck.

Tiger Woods has had disc replacement surgery in the latest setback to stall his return to the PGA Tour. The 15-time major champion has been sidelined since missing the cut at The Open in July 2024 and took to social media to announce the news. “I opted to have my disc replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back.”

Tiger Woods believes American players should all be paid millions to play in the Ryder Cup, providing those funds are donated to charity. The PGA of America is close to agreeing a landmark scenario in which the US Ryder Cup team will be paid about $400,000 each to take on Europe in September 2025. Europe’s Ryder Cup contingent continues to maintain they should not take a cut of event revenue.

Tiger Woods undergoes back surgery to ‘alleviate pain’

Tiger Woods has undergone back surgery after an injury-hit 2024 season. A statement on Woods’ official X account said the 15-time major winner underwent microdepression surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back on Friday. Dr Sheeraz Qureshi, of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, performed the surgery and deemed it to be successful.
