Bernardo Silva opened the scoring midway through the first half, striking first time past goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. Teenager Arda Guler scored on his European Championship debut as Turkey broke Georgia’s hearts with a thrilling Group F victory in Dortmund. Right-back Mert Muldur gave Turkey the lead in the 25th minute but seven minutes later, Georges Mikautadze scored Georgia’s first goal in a major tournament. Guler’s 65th minute strike saw Turkey regain the lead but the Georgians tested them until the final whistle.

Jose Mourinho is set to be named manager of Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce. The 61 year old has been out of work since he was sacked by AS Roma in January. A serial winner, Mourinho will replace Ismail Kartal, who left Fenerbahce on Friday after they finished second in the league to city rivals Galatasaray, despite losing just one game and recording 99 points last term.
