Scheffler surges into lead ahead of final round of PGA Championship

World number one Scottie Scheffler stormed into the lead of the US PGA Championship and will take a three-shot advantage into Sunday’s final round at Quail Hollow. The 28-year-old carded a superb round of 65 – playing his final five holes in five under – to end the day on 11 under par for the tournament. In both 2022 and 2024, Scheffler converted 54-hole leads into victories at the Masters and is in prime position to seal his third major win.

Vegas maintains lead following round 2 at US PGA Championship

Venezuela’s Jhonattan Vegas maintained his lead at the US PGA Championship while Rory McIlroy and defending champion Xander Schauffele avoided early exits at Quail Hollow. Vegas carded a one-under 70 in his second round to move to eight under par, two shots clear of England’s Matt Fitzpatrick, France’s Matthieu Pavon and Kim Si-woo of South Korea. The 40-year-old, who was out in the early wave, led by four on the 18th but he posted a double-bogey six to keep a congested chasing pack in close proximity.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy ended 10 shots behind leader Jhonattan Vegas after round one of the US PGA Championship. Venezuela’s Vegas, 40, birdied five of his final six holes to set the pace at seven under and move two clear of American Ryan Gerard and Australian Cam Davis. Ryder Cup captains Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley both impressed at Quail Hollow in North Carolina.

Xander Schauffele holds off Bryson DeChambeau to win US PGA Championship

Xander Schauffele holed a nervy six-foot birdie putt at the 18th to win his first major with a record score on a gripping final day at the US PGA Championship. The American held off the charging Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland to triumph on 21 under at Valhalla, Kentucky. Having led the tournament since equalling the best round at a major when he shot 62 in round one, the 30-year-old Californian finished with a six-under 65 to claim the Wanamaker Trophy by one shot.

Schauffele and Morikawa lead as Lowry roars into contention – US PGA Championship

Shane Lowry shot a major record-equalling 62 as he moved into contention behind joint leaders Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele during an intriguing third round at the US PGA Championship in Kentucky. The 2019 Open champion holed nine birdies in a sublime bogey-free round to reach 13 under, two off the lead. Lowry was buoyed by playing with Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose, who signed for a superb 64 to sit one further back on 12 under.
