Slovenians Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic led the chase six seconds down but Julian Alaphilippe could only manage fifth place and conceded the race lead to the Dutch debutant after another dramatic day on the Tour de France.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen eased to victory at the Styrian Grand Prix ahead of title rival Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes. Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas completed the podium but they were unable to prevent Red Bull from claiming a fourth straight win.
