Bayer Leverkusen set a new European unbeaten record of 49 successive games in securing a late draw with Roma to reach the Europa League final. Josip Stanisic scored with the last kick of the game in the 97th minute to earn Xabi Alonso’s side a 2-2 draw on the night and a 4-2 aggregate victory. The former Everton and Fulham winger scored on the half-hour mark when his deflected strike drifted beyond visiting keeper Pau Lopez into the bottom corner.

Real Madrid snatched an incredible semi-final victory as two late goals defeated Bayern Munich and set up a Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund. Bayern looked to be heading to the final when Alphonso Davies cut in and blasted past Andriy Lunin but Joselu grabbed an 88th-minute equaliser and two minutes later swept home from six yards out to complete a stunning comeback.

Borussia Dortmund produced a fine away performance to beat Paris St-Germain and reach their first Champions League final since 2013. Dortmund held a 1-0 advantage following the first leg of the semi-final and doubled their lead when Mats Hummels was left unmarked five yards out to head in from Julian Brandt’s left-wing corner. PSG had chances to get back into the tie but were unable to breakthrough the Dortmund defence.

Real Madrid were crowned champions of La Liga for the 36th time after FC Barcelona suffered a 4-2 defeat by Girona. The Catalans took an early lead through Andres Christensen but were soon pegged back by Artem Dovbyk. Barca regained the lead but Cristian Portu’s brace from the bench turned the tie on its head ultimately ending the title race.
