Max Verstappen set the fastest time in Belgian Grand Prix qualifying but a grid penalty means Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will start from pole position. The Red Bull driver beat Leclerc by 0.820 seconds on a drying track but has a five-place grid drop for using too many gearbox components this season.

Alpine have announced that they will part ways with Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer by mutual agreement following the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix. Szafnauer will continue his duties as normal for this weekend’s race at Spa-Francorchamps, before leaving the team ahead of the August summer break.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen blitzed the field in Belgium to pick up yet another race win despite starting from P14. His teammate Sergio Perez finished second ahead of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz who had started the race on pole. The result sees the Dutchman increase his lead in the Championship standings.
