Alpine confirm Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer to leave role at end of Belgian GP

Alpine have announced that they will part ways with Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer by mutual agreement following the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix. Szafnauer will continue his duties as normal for this weekend’s race at Spa-Francorchamps, before leaving the team ahead of the August summer break.

Verstappen extends championship lead with Sprint victory in Austria

Max Verstappen took a dominant win in the sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix after a first-lap squabble with team-mate Sergio Perez. In wet conditions, Perez took the lead from Verstappen at the first corner and then edged the world champion onto the grass after the corner. But Verstappen made a pass stick out of Turn Four and proceeded to motor away to another win.

Max Verstappen fended off a challenge from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to take pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix. Verstappen was just 0.048 seconds clear of Leclerc as Carlos Sainz made it a Ferrari two-three with Lando Norris fourth in the upgraded McLaren.

Russell gets better of Verstappen to win Sprint in Sao Paulo

Mercedes’ George Russell rose from P3 to win the Sprint Race in Sao Paulo ahead of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and his Silver Arrows teammate Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished P4 after picking up damage when passed by Sainz, the Spaniard however is taking a grid penalty meaning an all Mercedes front row.
