Sergio Garcia rejoins DP Tour as he eyes Ryder Cup spot

Sergio Garcia has rejoined the DP World Tour as he seeks a European record-equalling 11th appearance at the Ryder Cup. The 44-year-old Spaniard, who is already the event’s record points scorer, wants to match Lee Westwood and Sir Nick Faldo’s European benchmark by playing next year at Bethpage in the USA. His membership of LIV Golf means he has had to pay hefty fines and will serve a suspension in order to rejoin the DP World Tour.

McIlroy and Scheffler to take on Koepka and DeChambeau

Rory McIlroy has confirmed that he will partner world No 1 Scottie Scheffler in a made-for-TV match against LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka later this year. The match between two of the biggest names on the PGA Tour and two of the highest-profile LIV Golf players will be held in Las Vegas in mid-December, although the exact date, venue and format have yet to be announced.

Tyrrell Hatton becomes latest name to join LIV Golf

Tyrrell Hatton will make his LIV Golf debut in Mexico this week after becoming the latest high-profile golfer to join the Saudi Arabia-backed tour. The 32 year old Englishman is the current world number 16 and was part of Europe’s 2023 Ryder Cup-winning team in Rome and joins Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team.

Rory McIlroy has resigned from the PGA Tour’s Policy Board with the American circuit embroiled in high level negotiations over how to fund its future. McIlroy’s shock decision was revealed in a memo to the tour’s players issued by commissioner Jay Monahan, who thanked the golfer “for his dedication and commitment to the tour”.

PGA announces shock merger with LIV and DP World Tour

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour have agreed to merge with Saudi Arabian-backed circuit LIV Golf in a deal that ends the acrimonious split in the game. The surprise announcement comes after a year of unprecedented disruption in the men’s game following the launch of LIV. It means pending litigation between the tours will be halted and they will move forward as part of the same enterprise.
