Jose Maria Olazabal named third vice-captain for Ryder Cup

Luke Donald has named Spain’s Jose Maria Olazabal as his third vice-captain for the Ryder Cup in New York in September. Olazabal was part of Donald’s backroom team in 2023 for Europe’s memorable victory in Rome and again joins Dane Thomas Bjorn and Edoardo Molinari of Italy. Olazabal was the last captain to oversee a European victory on American soil back in 2012.

Sergio Garcia rejoins DP Tour as he eyes Ryder Cup spot

Sergio Garcia has rejoined the DP World Tour as he seeks a European record-equalling 11th appearance at the Ryder Cup. The 44-year-old Spaniard, who is already the event’s record points scorer, wants to match Lee Westwood and Sir Nick Faldo’s European benchmark by playing next year at Bethpage in the USA. His membership of LIV Golf means he has had to pay hefty fines and will serve a suspension in order to rejoin the DP World Tour.
